Applications for the Naval Academy Summer Seminar are now closed


The United States Naval Academy Summer Seminar is the first step in navigating your future to becoming one of our nation's next generation of leaders.  

If you are currently in your junior year of high school and considering the Naval Academy as your college of choice, we strongly recommend you consider applying to Summer Seminar. Summer Seminar will introduce you to life at the Academy, where you will experience first-class academic, athletic, and professional training at the #1 Top Public College in the Country (2025 U.S. News & World Report College Ranking Report). Your Summer Seminar application will also serve as a preliminary application to the Academy that you will complete before or during your senior year.
During the six-day session, you will become a part of the Academy. You will live in Bancroft Hall (the dormitory all midshipmen live in), participate in academic and leadership workshops, and experience a variety of other activities on the campus. You will have an opportunity to see firsthand what the Academy has to offer through its exceptional academic, athletic, extracurricular activities and leadership training programs.

The program fee is $550 per session.

May 31 - June 5
Session 2 (Sat - Thurs)
June 7 - June 12
Session 3 (Sat - Thurs)
June 14 - June 19

 

*We are aware that some school districts are still in session during our programs. Unfortunately we cannot adjust our dates given facility availability and the midshipman training schedules. You may request a change to your session assignment, after selection, but admission to a different session is not guaranteed.

Steps For

Application

Once you start your Summer Seminar application, you will have the ability to save and continue your application at a later date.  We recommend you use a cell phone number and email address that you check often so you don’t miss any communication from our Admissions team (make sure to check your spam folder on a regular basis).

Application Requirements:

  1. Congressional district
  2. Class rank and size
    Please refer to the instructions within the application if you're school does not have a ranking system.
  3. Grade Summary
    You will be asked to provide an up-to-date list of your coursework and grades thus far.
  4. Personal Statement
    A 1000-character limit essay explaining your desire to attend our program, as well as any extra-curricular activities you participate in, and any awards won.

Please do not mail additional items to the Academy (transcripts, letter of recommendations) that are not required.

 The application closes March 31, 2025, at 11:59pm EST.

Summer Seminar is highly competitive program with a limited number of spaces (approximately 800) available per session.

Selection is based on the overall qualification of the student. Selections are done on a rolling basis with all applicants being notified of their status - selected, waitlist, or not selected -by April 25, 2025.

The following selection criteria are considered for Summer Seminar:

  • A current junior in high school
  • Superior high school academic performance
  • Demonstrated achievement in athletics and extracurricular activities
  • Physically fit and in good health
  • Unmarried, not pregnant, and no legal obligation to support a child, children or other individual(s)

Note: U.S. Citizenship is not a requirement for Summer Seminar, however candidates must have a Social Security Number to apply. Candidates seeking an appointment to the Naval Academy would need to be U.S. Citizens by the time they are inducted into the Brigade of Midshipmen. 
The Naval Academy Summer Seminar's program fee of $550 per participant will include lodging, meals, and all clothing to be worn. Campers should plan to bring additional funds for snacks and souvenirs.

Local campers will be responsible for arranging transportation to and from the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.

Out-of-area campers will be responsible for arranging transportation to and from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI). Once campers arrive, buses and midshipmen will be on-hand to transport campers from BWI to the Naval Academy and back to BWI upon program completion.
